Macy Williams was clutch when the Lionettes needed to shift into high gear.

Williams’ two-out, ninth-inning hit ended a marathon softball game as the Lionettes (3-2, 1-2) earned a 3-1 win at CCHS.

Williams’ walkoff hit capped a thrilling pitcher’s duel between Lionette Kristen Hale and Smith County’s Karly Edens.

Both were good.

Hale was better.

Hale went all nine innings, struck out seven, walked two, scattered eight hits and allowed one unearned run to secure the victory.

Edens was almost as good.

She pitched into the ninth and had two outs before Williams ruined her outing.

Cheyenne Fann, a hitting machine was was 2-for-4, started the rally with a one-out single. After Kelsie Smith hit into a fielder’s choice for the second out of the inning, Macy Clements singled to bring Williams to the plate.
The senior shortstop delivered with a walkoff hit to lift the Lionettes.

“It was time to go home,” Williams said. “We fought hard for the win so it was good to come out on top.”
The Lionettes trailed 1-0 before Ally Parton singled and later scored on an error to tie the game, 1-1, in the fifth.
Hale was outstanding. She gave up the unearned run in the third inning and never flinched the remainder of the way.

Clements was 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Lionettes. Molly Williams also had a hit for Cannon County.
Cannon County was not as fortunate in its second district game of the week. The Lionettes dropped a 2-0 setback against Macon County.

Hale pitched another gem but the offense couldn’t produce run support. Hale pitched seven innings, scattered five hits, allowed two runs, both unearned, struck out seven and walked none.

Fann had another strong offensive game, going 2-for-3. Macy Williams, Molly Williams, Livia Walker, Parton and Hale had one hit each for the Lionettes.
