On Saturday night August 22, while patrolling the park bathrooms, Officer Lowell Womack with the Woodbury Police Dept. noticed that the men’s bathroom had been vandalized with a permanent marker. Obscenities had been written on the sink, commode, light switch panels and other places.

Pictures were taken along with a report on the vandalism. Later on in the morning of August 23rd at approximately 3:00 A.M. two juvenile males age 14 were caught walking in the Brown Spurlock Park. Both of them were cited for curfew violations and the parents were called to pick them up.

On Monday morning upon arrival at the park it was discovered that someone had taken sidewalk chalk and wrote on almost everything in the Lincoln Gannon Playground. Upon reviewing video from the park it was discovered that three girls had went over the park and on the pavilion floor writing with the chalk.

After investigation into the vandalism of the men's bathroom and playground four additional juveniles were charged with vandalism.

Officer Womack did an outstanding job with patrolling the park and discovering the vandalism. Juveniles caught out after curfew will be cited and we will be relentless in maintaining the beauty of our parks.

One adult and four juveniles have been charged in the last two weeks for vandalism and two for curfew.

It is important that those using the park look for those who are up to no good. City workers have spent several hours cleaning up after these vandals. Also assisting in the investigation were Chief Tony Burnett, Asst. Chief Darrell Young and Sgt. Kevin Mooneyham.
