Woodbury Planners OK First Stop Subdivision

Approval was granted to a request by the owners of First Stop Market on West Main Street to subdivide the property on Tuesday night by the Woodbury Planning Commission.

The property at 975 W. Main, which is located between the Woodbury Police Department and the Dollar General store, is owned by Nicholas and Demetriouis Lambidonis.

The property on which the market sits would remain unchanged. The owners plan to build a rental structure on the property behind the market. Subdividing the property also allows either side to be sold separately.

No definitive decision has been made on what type of business will operate in the new structure. The structure itself will also have to be approved by the planning commission.

The approval of the First Stop plat subdivision was the only action the planning commissioners voted on Tuesday.

Woodbury Mayor Harold Patrick updated the planners on the drafting of an anti-loitering ordinance. He said Vice Mayor Charlie Harrell, Alderman Faye Knox and Town Attorney Dale Peterson are working on the wording of the ordinance. Once it is ready, the ordinance will be presented to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for consideration.

Also, Mayor Patrick issued a reminder about the annual Cannon Country Christmas event coming up this Friday and Saturday on the Woodbury Town Square and encourage citizens to attend to enjoy the festivities and to shop locally.
