Thanks to an alert neighbor, Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies quickly located and charged three suspects with breaking into a home on Rock Hill Road near Bradyville Pike, Sheriff Robert Arnold said.

Two of the suspects were from Woodbury.

The neighbor spotted a car parked behind the home with the trunk tied down about 12:50 p.m. and called the Sheriff’s Office. He gave a description of two men and one woman.

Patrol Lt. Ty Downing said, “It’s important for all of us to be vigilant in our neighborhoods. The witness did the right thing by not confronting the suspects but gathered good information to share with deputies.”

Deputy Rick Emslie reported deputies located the suspects with property taken from the home found in the back seat of the car.

Charged with burglary were suspects Michael Ragan, 30, of Woodbury, Shelley R. Newby, 20, who is homeless, and Gary Leroy Davis, 40, of Woodbury. Ragan is being held on unrelated charges in Cannon County while Davis is being held on unrelated charges in Coffee County.

Deputy Michael Moody observed the vehicle on Mercury Boulevard. He and other traffic unit deputies stopped the suspects while Emslie and Deputy Jack Keisling cleared the home. Deputy Mark Mack told Emslie deputies recovered a flat screen TV that Emslie confirmed was stolen from the home.

The suspects were charged and booked into  Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where they are being held. A hearing is set Aug. 8 in General Sessions Court.
