Woodbury man killed in accident

A two-vehicle accident on Highway 70S claimed the life of a Woodbury man August 27.

Raymond K. Knox Jr., 28, was killed in the accident, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports. Knox was driving a 2005 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle and traveling west on John Bragg Highway.

The driver of the other vehicle, James P. Hedge of Murfreesboro, was not injured, according to the report filed by trooper Tommy Cooper with assistance from Billy Prater. Hedge was driving a 2010 Tahoe SUV and came to a stop at North Lassiter Road and John Bragg Highway, the report stated. Hedge was attempting to cross the westbound

lanes of John Bragg Highway into the crossover in order to make a left turn to travel east. As Hedge was crossing the west bound lanes he was stuck in the left rear area by the motorcycle Knox was driving.

Hedge's Tahoe came to a rest facing east on John Bragg Hwy. Knox's motorcycle was caught under the front bumper. Both vehicles caught fire.

According to the report, preliminary time distance based on witness statements and calculations the motorcycle was exceeding the posted speed limit. There was no evidence of alcohol or drugs involved in either party.

Pending toxicology reports, THP will meet with the district attorney to determine if charges will be filed.
