Woodbury First UMC To Host World-Renowned Sculptor

TRACY SUGG
The members of Woodbury First United Methodist Church are getting ready for Easter in a big way this year.

On Thursday night April 21st at 7:00 pm, the Church will host Tracy and Robert Sugg in a special evening called: “The Portrait of Christ.”

This 30 minute presentation will be a part of a service that dramatically conveys Christ’s ministry, death, burial and resurrection.  “The Portrait of Christ” uses the medium of clay sculpture created against a background of dynamic lighting and music.

Robert Sugg, raised on the missions field in Taiwan, studied the art of Yi-Shing pottery with a local Chinese artist, Roy Chang.  Upon returning to America, he developed his own style of gospel-centered pottery presentations and began creating pottery with symbolic references to the gospel.

Raised on a ranch in New Mexico, Tracy H. Sugg combined her love for art and her love for Jesus from an early age.  Tracy has her Master of Fine Arts, the terminal degree in studio art, with an emphasis in sculpture.

She has created figurative sculpture in bronze and fired clay from twice life-size and life-size monuments to smaller size limited editions.  Her dynamic style of sculpting, imbued with passion and vitality, has revealed the reality of the gospel to many people.

Robert and Tracy work as professional artists from their studio behind their home.  In 1999 their vision to create a ministry using their talents as artists birthed “The Potter’s House Fine Arts.” The beauty of their style of evangelism is that artwork transcends cultural, racial, and social barriers to present the love of Christ.

Robert and Tracy serve as directors of “The Potter’s House Fine Arts”, a board-governed non-profit organization promoting the gospel through the arts.
