Woman dies in Short Mtn crash

Charity Dawn Simons, 30, died following a single-car accident Friday night (Nov. 14) on Short Mountain Road.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that Simons was traveling westbound when she lost control of her vehicle, which left the road and struck a utility pole before crashing through a fence and coming to rest in a field.

She was not wearing a seat belt. Authorities said speed was a factor in the accident.

Simons was a native of Warren County.

She is survived by her father, Johnny Ray Simons of Woodbury; children, Sawyer Ray Owens & Chloe Elaine Owens of Woodbury; siblings, Shana George, Michael Burk, and Katie Amann-Densmore, all of Indiana, Johnny Blaine Simons, Dextyn Ray Simons, Karrelanne Farrah Simons and Qwentin Kaleb McMackins, all of Woodbury.

She was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church and the manager at Short Mountain Distillery.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 17, at Woodbury Funeral Home.
