William Hildreth Fugitt
Mr. William Hildreth Fugitt, 88, of Centertown died December 11, 2012. He was born in Louisa, Kentucky on December 27, 1923. His parents were the late Geyger Fugitt and Ethel Bernice (Belcher) Fugitt. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Frances (Hall) Fugitt and a son, Jonathan Fugitt.
 
Survivors include his two daughters, Sharon & Paul Michael of Centertown and Melinda Scott of Centertown; brothers, Babe Edward Fugitt of South Gate, MI and Kenneth Fugitt of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Delores Hope Walters of Ceredo, WV; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren.
 
Mr. Fugitt grew up in the Tri-State area of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. He graduated high school in South Point, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during WWII on the U.S.S. Custer, A.P.A. 40. At an early age Mr. Fugitt dedicated his life to the Lord's service. He graduated the Detroit Bible College and was an active member of the church. He served in all levels of the church from being a minister, assistant pastor, deacon, bus driver and janitor. Mr. Fugitt wanted to serve the church in any way possible to bring glory and honor to God. He is currently a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed for many years at Sharpels Chemical Company in Wyandotte, Michigan. He also found time to earn his Real Estate License and worked for Century 21. Mr. Fugitt loved music and was blessed with the ability to play guitar, violin and banjo just to name a few. He was known and loved by many family and friends as a storyteller.
 
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Tom Fittis will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Gideons International. Contact Smith Funeral Home for details. (615)563-5337
