Vandalism

The Sheriff's Department investigated vandalism at Woodland Baptist Church on August 10. Church officials told officers the church met for services on Sunday, August 7 and nothing was out of place. On Wednesday, they discovered tire tracks on the lawn along with beer cans and broken flower pots. At the rear of the church, under a carport, a racial slur and 666 had been written on the wall. The case is under investigation.

Theft

Jerry Creager reported the theft of his 2002 Chevy truck, a Smith and Wesson pistol and a Nokia flip phone on August 7.

Attempted Carjacking

Kenneth Ray Mooneyham Sr. was charged with attempting carjacking of a vehicle by use of a deadly weapon, force or intimidation by Patrolman John House. Mooneyham was also charged with criminal impersonation after giving a false name to law enforcement when he was stopped for attempted carjacking. A hearing is set for September 13 in General Sessions Court.

Evading Arrest

Bobby Sanders and Beatrice Sanders were charged with evading arrest by Patrolman Chris Bell. Beatrice Sanders was also charged with resisting arrest. Hearings are set for September 13 in General Sessions Court.

DUI

Penny L. Smith was charged with DUI, first offense and with a violation of the implied consent law by Patrolman Joshua Thomas. A hearing is set for November 8 in General Sessions Court.

Driving on a Suspended License

Lynika Bennett was charged with driving on a suspended license by Patrolman Chris Bell. A hearing is set for September 20 in General Sessions Court.

Christopher Medlin was charged with driving on a suspended license by Patrolman Chris Bell. A hearing is set for September 13 in General Sessions Court.

Rhonda Denise McPeak was charged with driving on a revoked license by Patrolman Jimmy Haynes. A hearing is set for September 13 in General Sessions Court.

Jonathan Paul Walls was charged with driving on a suspended license by Patrolman Brent Brock. A hearing is set for October 11 in General Sessions Court.

John V. Hill was charged with driving on a suspended license by Patrolman Chris Bell. A hearing is set for September 13 in General Sessions Court.


Murfreesboro Police

Drug Arrest

An improper left turn resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old Woodbury man by Murfreesboro Police on weapons and drug charges. Richard L. Sloan was arrested by Patrolman Cory Schalburg of Murfreesboro Police. Schalburg said Sloan, a convicted felon, seemed nervous when questioned and admitted "he had marijuana and there was a gun in the driver's side door panel." Three bags of marijuana, rolling papers and a marijuana stem were discovered during a search by Schalburg. Multiple baggies of a crystal white substance, identified as meth by Sloan, were also discovered along with a handgun with its serial number filed off. A check revealed Sloan was driving on a suspended license and had a warrant seeking his arrest out of Bedford County. Sloan's bond was set at $26,500. He is scheduled to appear Nov. 17 in General Sessions Court for arraignment.
