Whited, McReynolds earn individual medals

By TONY STINNETT, Courier Sports Editor Two Cannon County runners earned individual medals and the Lionettes finished sixth overall at the TSSAA Class A/AA State Championship in Nashville Saturday. Hannah Whited finished 11th overall out of 181 runners to earn an individual medal in her second straight state meet. Marshall McReynolds placed 14th out of 191 runners on the men's side to earn an individual medal. Cannon County's girls team, making its first trip to the state tournament, finished sixth overall out of 24 teams. McReynolds ran the 5,000-meter Steeplechase Course in 17:22.97 to finish 14th. Teammate Jake Burdick finished 74th with a time of 18:39.25. Cannon County's girls team put together an impressive showing. Whited's 20:34.89 was good enough for 11th and less than a second from finishing in the Top 10. Erin McReynolds was 21st overall with a time of 21:11.96 to cap an outstanding season. Sarah Hickman and Kristen Hale, finished 74th and 76th, respectively, and Alayna Reed finished 103rd in their first state meet.
