West Side made easy work of Woodland to capture the boys championship of the 2013 Cannon County Grammar School Cancer Tournament at Woodbury Grammar Saturday (Dec. 8).

West Side owned a slim 9-5 lead after the first quarter but with high-scoring guard Cole George out with a broken wrist the Warriors didn’t have enough firepower to hang.

West Side outscored Woodland 17-2 in the second quarter to end all doubt. It led 26-7 at the half.

Brendon Cox led a balanced attack with 11. Marcus Gannon scored nine, followed by Lane Willis and Charlie Parrish with six each. Brandon Miles, who was injured and played sparingly, scored three, along with Gus Davenport and Matt Calamia.

Blake Bush led Woodland with five. Brandon Lack netted four, followed by Ty St. John (3), Weston Hargrove (2), Jacob Raines (2) and Joel Smith (1).

Auburn 39, Short Mtn. 20
Austin Duggin scored 29 points to lead Auburn to a 39-20 win against Short Mountain in the boys consolation game. Duggin averaged 24 points in three tournament games. He also has a 45-point game to his credit this season. Bradly Vickers added six for Auburn, followed by Shawn Matheny and Justin Whited with two each.
Hunter Byford and Wesley Cunningham scored six each for Short Mountain. Dakota Glenn, Cort Litchford and Dakota Cantrell each scored two.

W. Side 66, Short Mtn. 15
West Side reached the championship with a 66-15 win against Short Mountain in the semis. West Side led 21-1 after the first quarter and cruised.
Brandon Miles led the way with 22 points and Charlie Parrish added 14. Brendon Cox scored eight, followed Marcus Gannon and Tyler Lance with six each. Gus Davenport and Amari Kelton each scored four, and Wade Love added two.
Dakota Glenn led Short Mountain with six, followed by Luke Alexander (5), Dakota Cantrell (3) and Hunter Byford (1).

Woodland 40, Auburn 30
Blake Bush scored 11 points to lead Woodland to a 40-30 win against Auburn in the semis. Weston Hargrove, Brandon Lack and Ty St. John each scored eight. Jacob Raines scored three and Treyton Fann 2. Austin Duggin led Auburn with 11, followed by Shawn Matheny (8),Dale Thompson (7), Bradly Vickers (2) and Stone Basham (2).

Auburn 62, East Side 20
Austin Duggin scored 32, Bradly Vickers and Shawn Matheny each scored 10 and Auburn turned back East Side, 62-20, in a first-round game. Dale Thompson finished with eight and Braxton Gilley scored two for Auburn. Alex Clark led East Side with six. Corey Seymour and Landon Parton scored five and Jory Isenhart scored four.

Short Mtn. 36, WGS 29 (OT)
Luke Alexander scored 12 and Dakota Glenn added 11 to lead the Bears. Dakota Cantrell scored all six of his points in OT. Jordan Timmons (3), Cort Litchford (2) and Eddie Hill (2) scored for the Bears.
Austin Moore led WGS with 15. Cole Hill, Collin Rudisill and Brady Smith scored four, and Andy Howard scored two.
