Voter Assistants Designated At Election Meeting

The Cannon County Election Commission met Thursday night in a special called meeting to go over Voter Assistance procedures at the polling places.

According to Stan Dobson, Cannon County Election Administrator, state law requires one person from the Democratic Party and one person from the Republican Party of the election workers be on hand at every polling precinct in case voters need assistance at the polls.

If a voter needs help they can choose someone they know such as family members or friend, but it can not be a poll watcher or a candidate. If a voter needs assistance from the election office, they pick a person a person of their party to assist them and a member of the other party will be there as a witness.

The designations are as follows:

Eastside 4 precinct will be Mamie Bell and Carmen Smithson.

Short Mountain 4 precinct will be Evelyn Pyles and Melvin Farrell.

Pat Simpson and Penny Daniels will be the ones designated to assist at the Woodbury Precinct.

Jerry Don Northcutt and Shelia Long will be at Westside.
