Virginia Mitchell Young

Virginia Mitchell Young of Hermitage TN, age 71, passed from this life on July 31, 2016 after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Virginia was born in Woodbury TN and graduated from Woodbury Central High School, class of 1963 where she was valedictorian. Soon after graduation she moved to Nashville and lived in the Donelson/Hermitage area where she called home for 53 years. She is survived by Roy Young, her devoted husband of 53 years, and caregiver for the last year during her battle with cancer. He is the owner of Southern Hair and Young Realty Group in Donelson, and he is also an elder at Donelson Church of Christ. She is also survived by her son Brad Young and his wife, Stacy Young, her daughter Tammy Angell and her husband Rob Angell. The absolute joys of her life were her grandchildren Braxton and Chloe Young, and Camden, Alexis, and Chase Angell. Also surviving is her sister Sue Holt Patrick of Woodbury TN, and special cousin, Sara Pettit of Nashville.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lehman "Pap" Mitchell and Hixie Roach Mitchell.

Virginia was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved children and taught Sunday school where she was fondly remembered for her famous "chocolate fountains" in class. She put all her heart and soul in to trying to teach them about God. She was beautiful inside and out as well as being a fun-loving person that loved to travel and see the world. Some of her greatest joys were watching her grandkids cheerlead at ballgames, watch them play their various sports, and attending their dance recitals.

She loved decorating and entertaining and attended the O'More College of design. Virginia also worked as a cosmetics consultant for Estee Lauder and fine jewelry consultant, at Castner Knott / Proffit's / Hecht's. She later worked for Jared's as a fine jewelry consultant before she retired.

She loved life with a passion and didn't want to let it go but she is watching over her family from heaven now. Virginia will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her, but she will never be forgotten.
