Viper Day Saturday, Feb. 19 On The Square

The Middle Tennessee Vipers, a semi-pro football team based out of Woodbury, will conduct Viper Day Saturday (Feb. 19) at the Downtown Square in Woodbury.

Team members and coaches will be on hand throughout the day signing autographs. The team will be selling hot dogs, polish sausages, cakes, cookies, pies and other iterms. The day will serve as a fund-raiser for the team, which opens the season Feb. 26 at Wilson Central.

Viper Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"I feel we have the players to compete right away," Vipers Head Coach Don Berninger said. "We have a huge line, fast flanks and hard-hitting linebackers so the ingredients are there. I think the public will be impressed with what we have to offer. We hope to have folks come out and meet the players as many of them are Woodbury natives."

The Vipers beat the Murfreesboro Red Devils 20-0 in a preseason scrimmage two weeks ago. A.J. Mathews scored on a 3-yard run, Martell Curd scored on a 4-yard run and quarterback Josh Lance connected with Dee Jones for a 47-yard touchdown pass.
