Violinist Stefan Petrescu joins youth ensemble

Local youth musicians are in for a treat this year. Romanian-born violinist Stefan Petrescu, who has performed in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and the United States both in recital and as an orchestra soloist, will bring his decades of experience to the students of the Ethos Youth Ensembles, a youth musical program based in Murfreesboro that serves over 140 students, grades 3-12, from around Middle Tennessee.

Mr. Petrescu has won numerous prizes as a violin soloist in his native Romania. He was concertmaster of the Constanta Chamber Orchestra in Romania on their tours to America and Western Europe and has worked extensively with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

Stefan is joining the Ethos Youth Ensembles faculty as String Specialist for the 2016-2017 school year and will work with students in the organization's youth orchestras.

Dr. Brian Russell, Music Director of the Ethos Youth Ensembles, is excited for the students to learn from Mr. Petrescu. "Stefan is the perfect combination of a giving heart and musical genius," said Dr. Russell. "I know the students will take their playing to a new level under his teaching."

Mr. Petrescu, who is concertmaster of the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra, also welcomes this opportunity.

Auditions for the Ethos orchestras and jazz ensemble are in late August and the Ethos Children's Choirs begin their season after Labor Day with open rehearsals for anyone interested.
