Cannon County Interim Director of Schools William Curtis issued a statement this afternoon in reference to reports on social media concerning Cannon County High School:

"Unfortunately, there have been a number of FALSE RUMORS that are spreading around that threats have been made against Cannon County High School. These rumors are COMPLETELY FALSE and there have been no credible threats made against ANY Cannon County School.
Law enforcement and School Officials have completed an investigation and have learned these rumors were spread via social media. The following Bright Arrow Message was sent out earlier today:
'Threatening messages about CCHS appeared on social media. School officials & law enforcement have deemed our schools are safe. Students are not in danger. W.F. Curtis'
During the investigation, no weapons were found at Cannon County High School and no arrests were made.
Please know that we place a priority on school safety, and we investigate all reports of threats made against schools. We ask that parents please speak to their children about the importance of not spreading false information about threats. Doing so causes nothing but panic and disruption to the educational environment."
