UCHRA Offering Application Assistance For CoverKids And CoverRx

In a continuing quest to deliver hope, the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency’s staff and county coordinators have been shown by the State of Tennessee the process in which the state’s residents can qualify and apply for affordable insurance options.

Representatives of the UCHRA can provide application assistance for CoverKids and CoverRx to these qualifying families at each of their 14 county offices.

“We are pleased to help the people of the Upper Cumberland and the State of Tennessee in assisting in the application process,” stated Phyllis Bennett, Executive Director of the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, “Everyone needs access to affordable insurance options and we will do what we can to help people secure those options.”

CoverKids provides free, comprehensive health insurance to children age 18 and younger in families who do not qualify for TennCare but cannot afford private health insurance.  A family earning within 250 percent of the federal poverty level ($55,125 annually for a family of four) will qualify for CoverKids.

Members pay no monthly premium for the coverage, but are responsible for low co-pays for services.  The health plan includes coverage for everything from doctor visits to emergency care and hospitalization to mental health services, as well as dental and vision care.

CoverRx provides uninsured individuals, and those without pharmacy coverage, access to more than 250 generic medications, as well as diabetic supplies and insulin.  The pharmacy assistance program helps members get 30- and 90-day supplies of medications for affordable, income-based co-pays.

In addition, non-covered prescriptions are eligible for discounts and the plan can be used in conjunction with patient assistance programs and discount programs offered by retail pharmacies.
