Two gun thefts reported



Two people contacted the Cannon County Sheriff's Department recently to report that their guns had been stolen.

George Cochran of Roach Hollow Rd. reported on Feb. 26 his Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 45 ACP had been missing for about a month and he had been unable to find it. Cochran stated he waited to report it missing because he believed he had misplaced it. He stated he had searched his residence and was unable to find it. Cochran said his son had a friend over about the time the gun went missing and that the juvenile had not been back since then. He also said he did not have the serial number for the gun. Investigator Brandon Gullett is now handing the case.

On March 1, Deputy Tyl Shawver was dispatched to a residence on Dug Hollow Rd. in reference to stolen property. He spoke with Keith Kessner, who stated that on or about Feb. 22 his firearm, a Tokarev 7.62 pistol, had been stolen. Kessner identified two individuals who had access to his home, other than the residents, to the deputy. The firearm was enter into NCIS as stolen.
