The True Colors of dance will be displayed on stage at the Arts Center of Cannon County Saturday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m.
Students from the Cannon Arts Dance Studio have been diligently working to hone their skills through a variety of dance genres such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and clogging.
Numbers range from Colors of the Wind, performed by the studio’s charming beginner class under the direction of Ms. Kathryn Turney to the contemporary offerings of Kaleena DeVar’s Heritage Dance Company , dancing to True Colors . Featured will be two Woodbury residents who recently were honored as members of this professional company; Damian Coomes and Dylan McMurry.
Darla Toker, who started the formal ballet program this fall, has woven together a beautiful rendition of A Coat of Many Colors. Ms California’s students light up the stage with their Raspberry Berets and Lance Chandler’s students have The Time of Their Lives as toys that come alive during All for Love.
In addition Cannon Arts Studio is proud to present works from CORE PROJECT CHICAGO.
CORE PROJECT, under the direction of Erin Rehberg, is a professional dance troupe dedicated to bringing together artists from various disciplines. The company’s participation in the show is an opportunity for dance students to associate and learn from a professional company.
“We are very fortunate to include CORE PROJECT to our program as they will expand cultural awareness for local audiences”, stated Lori Christensen, owner of the Cannon Arts Studio. “I encourage everyone to come out and see the culmination of hard work and talent when ‘the curtain goes up’ on our True Colors production.
