Local Tennessee Highway Patrol officers recently made arrests for DUI and marijuana possession in separate incidents.
• Joseph Matthew Taylor, 108 South Dillon St., Woodbury, was charged with DUI 1st Offense and violation of the Financial Responsibility law on Oct. 27 by Trooper Bruce Pryor of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Taylor was traveling south on Hollow Springs Rd. when his vehicle went out of control and struck a dirt embankment.
Taylor left the crash site, leaving a passenger in the car. He later returned to the scene on his own. Taylor stated he drank one-half pint of whiskey. He had a strong odor of alcohol on his person. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Bond was set at $3,000. Initial court date is Dec. 20.
• James Kelly Ferrell, 1300 Robinwood Dr., Shelbyville, and Jason Alton Couch, 1225 Simmon Rd., Bradyville, were each charged by Trooper Alfred Seitner of the Tennessee Highway Patrol with Simple Possession of Marijuana on Oct. 24. Trooper Seitner stopped the vehicle Ferrell was driving on Burt Bergen Road for a registration violation.
Ferrell, when asked for consent to search his vehicle, stated there was a bag of marijuana in the tool box of the truck. A search revealed a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Ferrell was also charged with violations of the Registration, Financial Responsibility and Driver’s License laws. Initial court date is Dec. 27.
