Just a thoughtful phone call or doing a small deed for someone who needs help. Of course, it is always nice to donate food goods and clothing....or take that special elderly neighbor a holiday meal just from you....stay and visit with that person for a bit. You will be surprised how much it will mean to that person and how fulfilled you will feel when you go back home. Our children are all over the United States and it is so sad that over the holidays we rarely get to see them. Honestly, I can listen to all the Christmas songs on the radio ... but when: 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' comes on .... I have to turn it off. Really pulls at my heart strings! I mean, JD and I try to keep busy with our friends here, but honestly, nothing replaces having your family home for this special time of year! So, for those who are lucky enough to have your family nearby....Eat It Up.... it won't be here forever! I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We went to our friend's home. My girlfriend and I both made up all the fixin's and by the time we were all done, we decided that it would be much easier to have a THANKSMAS next year....so we only had to prepare this huge feast just ONCE over the holidays! Do we have any takers on that one? We had a very nice couple come into the Short Mountain Trading Post and they asked me of they could take a picture in front of our Fireplace. They needed a really neat photo for their personal Christmas cards. I said absolutely...just mention on each card that they were at the Trading Post in Woodbury, Tennessee. We had a great Black Friday at The Post. It was great to see so many folks interested in country shopping versus hustle bustle mall shopping! There were a lot of return customers who brought their visiting family and friends. It was great to see all of them! So, make sure the rest of you make your way out to see us and take advantage of our terrific sale prices in all the booths and in Savannah's Christmas Loft! Aunt Martha really surprised me the other day when she told me that she bought Uncle Festus a pair of underwear that smells like BACON. I kinda jumped back when she told me because she is normally so reserved in that department...if you know what I mean....I couldn't help but laugh when she went on to tell me that there was a tag on them that read: not to be worn by zookeepers, lion tamers or while hunting bear. She wanted to remove that tag...and I said: maybe you better leave it on...as no tellin' just what Festus WILL DO while wearing them...! I told her to go back to wherever she bought them and get Cousin Clarence a pair also. (I'll let you know what happens !) Did all of you know that there are: FOUR STAGES OF LIFE? 1.) You really believe in Santa. 2.) You really don't believe in Santa. 3.) You think you I've noticed some very pretty Christmas decorations going up all around. JD always puts up our two large lighted deer and outdoor tree and presents in front of our cabin. Our little neighbor girl always gets so excited when she sees them going up. So nice to look at from my kitchen window.
