Trading Post Chat

By SAVANNAH CUNNICK

Boy oh boy did we ever have fun at the Short Mountain Trading Post Holiday Extravaganza this past week end! Weather was sunny and pleasant and lots of folks showed up to see Santa, take pictures and start their Christmas shopping! The little ones loved Santa and their candy canes and were amazed with the fact that they were inside this big barn with a holiday wonderland theme. Brightly decorated trees, wreaths, santas, deer, bright lights and warm garland lined the barn walls and fences outside. There even was a huge sleeping Santa on the swing outside. Lots of fun pictures was taken at that spot!

Thanks to everyone who came to see us and enjoy our festival. It's not too late to still visit us and our Wonderland on Thursdays through Saturdays 10 to 5 every week until it is too chilly to be open!

Thanksgiving is coming up and I wish all of you a wonderful day with family and friends and lots of yummy turkey! JD and I will be with friends that day and cannot wait for that delicious dinner and lots of football on the t.v. Finally, a day of rest and relaxation!

My family will be spread out all over the place and not near by this year,so something new and different with out Festus and Clyde disrupting things. They can really get into that moonshine and become more of a turkey than the one on the table!

Aunt Martha recently told me that Festus had told her how great he was and that once and awhile someone amazing comes along and here I am. Martha just turned her eyes to the heavens and merely said: the first 50 years of marriage are the hardest! It is what it is, Martha!

Last night, Festus drank so much he had to use his barstool for a walker to get home. He had told Martha that he was meeting with his book club then only to find out that all they read wine and whiskey labels! So Martha gets even and whenever she slaps him she says mosquito! Well, it must be a pretty big mosquito, because Festus gets it good!

Cousin Clyde tells me that the other day when he was returning Festus' barstool back to the saloon, he happened to read an article on the dangers of drinking. It scared him to death. He said: That's it, no more reading!

Clyde has had such a hard time holding down a job. He claims that he always goes the extra mile at work, but his boss always finds him and brings him back!

Clyde says that the only trouble with doing nothing at work is He never knows when he's done! He's tried to get on unemployment, but he has not been successful in reaching anyone. He says that he wonders why do I have to press one for English when I'm just going to be transferred to someone I can't understand anyway? I want to say: Clyde, how stupid can you be? But, I'm afraid he would take it as a challenge! His wife Clara says that behind every crazy woman is a man that made her that way!

She needs so many things repaired around the house that she has ended up paying to have them fixed. Other than that if a man says he will fix it, he will. There is no need to remind him every six months! Sometimes life just sucks the jelly right out of your donut!

Poor Clara is just exhausted. She's at the point of talking to herself for expert advice. Aside from Clyde, she has her pets who she claims has caused her to lose her mind and she is pretty sure they took it. The dogs think they are human and the cats know they are! She says: How is it that the dogs think I am the master and I am slave to the cats? Now, I agree with that one Cousin Clara! Now, can you folks kinda see why I am looking forward to this Thanksgiving without family?

Well, back to the Trading Post and setting up some new vendors.

As always, we are looking for those special craftspeople and collectors. Please call me at: 615-464-7824 for further information. Gonna sign off for now and keep in mind, my friends, stay focused and don't let pressure get you down.

Pressure can do many things, it either bursts pipes or makes diamonds. Take each day at a time. Smile. Laugh and remember that Happiness is always an inside job!

Come out and see us at the Barn. Have a great week and be kind to each other.

Hugs, Savannah
