Hello There All You Revitalized People Out There!!!

All those New Year's resolutions ..... .Exercise, lose weight, stop smoking, join a dating service, deep clean the house , throw out junk in the attic and basement , clean out the garage, wash the dog more often, be nicer to the in-laws, take up clogging and learn to play the banjo.

Whatever it is, just keep coming to see us at the Short Mountain Trading Post !!! We love having you visit over and over again and meeting your family and friends. Always something new at our place and lots of fun shopping for unique merchandise. A trip out to the country, fresh air and fun!

We had a lot of company visit us over the holidays....the dreaded overnighters and feasters!! By the time they left, they learned about my dinner choices: Take it or Leave it !! And if you want your breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen!! I may be as country as a butterbean, but there " is" an end to my cuisine and maid services!
By the way, we thank all of those who have called me about the arts and crafts they have to offer, their musical talents for our special monthly events and interest in the spring farmer's market. Keep the calls coming to: Savannah at #615-464-7824. Much appreciated !!

In each column coming up, I will be featuring one of our artisans at the Trading Post. This week is Karen Brackman, whose passion for pyrography (woodburning) has made her very successful.

For 25 years her art work has been on roughwoods such as walnut and cedar and then applying pencil, pen and ink, watercolor and acrylics. She is very talented and does excellent work. We are so lucky to have her here!!
She is a member of the North Rutherford woodworkers in Murfreesboro and teaches classes at the Murfreesboro Senior Center (St. Clair) each month.

In the spring, she will be offering lessons at the Short Mountain Trading Post.
If interested, please call Savannah at #615-464-7824. Perhaps you have seen her work at the White Oak Festival in Woodbury or the Murfreesboro Greenway Show in the past few years. Friday is usually Karen's day at the Post, so please come visit her, watch her demonstrations and join her class.

Well, with the snowflakes falling, chilly wind blowing and overcast skies, we welcome our winter days and are thankful for all we have in our lives!

Just remember that if you smoke and you pull a hay wagon, watch out where you toss that cigarette. I followed home a fella who flicked his cigarette out his window and it landed in his load of hay. I thank him a lot for a light all the way home and then some. I turned into my driveway and watched the blaze of glory still trucking down the road with still no clue.

I tried to alert him that his wagon was on fire by honking my horn and flashing my lights, but his music was playing so loud, he couldn't hear me.

I shall sign off for now on that note and see you soon at the Trading Post, where great things happen!!
