NASHVILLE - State Senator Mark Pody (R-Lebanon) and Representative Clark Boyd (R-Lebanon) announced on July 31 that Cannon County will be awarded a $5,000 ThreeStar Competitive Grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD). ThreeStar grants are used for a variety of local programs focused on economic development, public safety, health, education and workforce development.

Cannon County will utilize the grant funds for the We Care Cannon program targeting health.

"I am very pleased that Cannon County has received these funds in a very competitive grant program," said Sen. Pody. "Congratulations to our local officials for a successful application. I was happy to support it and am sure these funds will be put to good use for this program."

"The well-being of our citizens is one of my main priorities, and I am grateful that our Department of Economic & Community Development is helping us improve health outcomes in Cannon County," said Rep. Boyd. "It was an honor to support our local officials in their efforts to secure this important funding."

In total, TNECD is awarding $955,000 to 60 Tennessee communities through this round of the ThreeStar Grant program. The projects are new programs or expand upon existing programs. All are based on the communities' ThreeStar planning process.
