Three die in car crash



Three people were killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision late Tuesday afternoon in Bedford County.

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on State Highway 82 near Simmons Road, south of Shelbyville.

Two of the victims, Mary Motlow, 62, of Lynchburg, and Morris Parker, 71, of La Vergne had Woodbury connections.

 One of four children, Ms. Motlow was daughter Conner Motlow and Rose Motlow and the granddaughter of Lem Motlow. She was also the principal of Lynchburg Outdoors LLC. Lem Motlow was the nephew of distiller Jack Daniel and proprietor of Jack Daniel's Distillery.

Parker was an architect.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Eric Holestak was traveling north on State Highway 82 when his Ford Taurus crossed the center line and struck a southbound Honda Accord head-on.

Holestak, 46, ofMurfreesboro, and Parker, the driver of the Honda, died on the scene.

Parker's passenger, Ms. Motlow was transported to aNashvillehospital where she died Tuesday night.

A Tennessee state trooper told the Shelbyville Times Gazette it appears Holestak may have fallen asleep.

Trooper Dallas Rife said alcohol was involved.

"He had an open container in the vehicle and he smelled of alcohol," Rife told the paper.

Highway 82 was closed for approximately two and a half hours while crews worked the scene.
