Three Cases Sent To Grand Jury

Three defendants in Cannon County General Sessions Court Tuesday waived their right to a preliminary hearing and had their cases bound over to the September 16 meeting of the Cannon County Grand Jury.

However, it is likely that all three cases will be resolved on Thursday (Sept. 1) in Cannon County Circuit Court.

Those who had their cases bound over are:

• Jeremy Lynn Tenpenny, charged with reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, suspended license (two counts), failure to appear and violation of probation.

• Marcus Edward Tenpenny, charged with reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, no driver’s license (two counts), driver’s license violation, registration violation and financial responsibility law violation.

• Joshua R. Cripps, charged with possession of Schedule II, III and IV drugs with intent to resale, simple possession of Schedule VI drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal impersonation.

All three defendants indicated to Judge Susan Melton in General Sessions Court Tuesday their intention to plead guilty to some of the charges against them in Circuit Court Thursday.

Judge Robert Corlew, substituting for Judge Don Ash, will preside over Circuit Court Thursday when it convenes at the courthouse at 11:15 a.m.
