This Weekend's Red Apple Days Hot Topic At Auburntown Meeting

The Auburntown City Council met August 3, 2010 for their regular monthly meeting.  The Mayor and all councilmen were present.

The Mayor welcomed Frank Patrick back into the ranks of the city’s governing body after a lengthy absence due to surgery and the complications that followed.  Frank showed his pleasure with a big smile and said he was, indeed! happy to be back.

The previous monthly meeting of July 2010 was approved as presented by the City Recorder.

A copy of the financial report was given to each councilperson.  After a thorough review the report was approved as presented.  The total amount of funds on deposit was $45,092.68.

The City Hall building, used primarily for storage, has been repaired on an     emergency basis to prevent further deterioration.

Construction of the utility water line up Hurricane Creek Rd. continues and will be added in length just as soon as the current installation is completed.

The Council passed on first reading a new Municipal Floodplain Zoning Ordinance.  A public meeting on this ordinance is planned for some time in the near future.

Red Apple Day celebration was discussed at length.  There seems to be more interest displayed in the event this year than any time in the recent past.  There are 38 vendors lined up to participate.  Some vendors had to be turned away due to all the available slots being taken.

The Council approved to participate in the new Cannon County Web Page start- up cost by donating $333.00.  The cost is being shared by Woodbury, Auburntown, and Cannon County and is sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting began at 6:00 PM and lasted for one hour.
