Solid Waste Department
announces new hours
Due to budget cuts imposed by the Cannon County Commission, the Solid Waste Department must reduce some services extended to the public. Starting Monday November 21st, the Cannon County Convenience Center will have new hours of operation.

Only household waste will be accepted at the Convenience Center. There will no longer be any building materials accepted or cardboard pickup provided. Please make note of any changes.

The American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury is selling flags and
accessories. The monies raised from the sale of these flags goes 100% back to our Community, our Youth and our Veterans, in Cannon County. This is an on-going project. We have available an assortment of all sizes and all types of flags - United States Flags, State Flags, Military Service Flags; and all sizes of flag poles.
The United States Flag 3'x 5' nylon is $25 (best price
anywhere). This is our most popular flag. The United States Flag 4"x 6" is .50 each or $5 a dozen for special occasions. The military services/branches flags are $30 each. For that special display. We can get you any State Flag, different size flags and different

Clearfork United Methodist Church
1721 Big Hill Road, Gassaway
Clearfork Methodist will begin its monthly dinners on Saturday, January 7. Suppers will be once a month on the first Saturday with hours 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu features catfish or chicken tenders with choice of pinto, white or green beans, hush puppies, cabbage slaw or veggie salad, french fries, homemade desserts and drink. Defensive Driving Class
April 17-18
The Cannon County Senior Center is offering their first defensive driving class of 2017 to their community on April 17 & 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each day. The cost of this informative class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Upon the completion of this two day class, you will be eligible for a three year deduction on your driver insurance policy. The class is open to the entire community and begins at 1 p.m. each day. Compassus To Host Volunteer Training
Saturday, April 29
The Compassus program serving Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy and Moore Counties will host a free hospice volunteer training orientation on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Compassus - Tullahoma location. Volunteers are an integral part of the Compassus care team and are relied on to provide support, companionship and dignity to members of the community facing serious and life-limiting illness. During orientation, volunteers will learn about many aspects of hospice care, including listening and communication skills, patient and family rights, spiritual and cultural diversity, and patient confidentiality.

Singer/ Songwriter Night
Beginning May 5
BRADYVILLE, TN--Beginning May 5, 2017, Nashville performing artist Cyndi Washburn will host a singer/songwriter night at the Red Barn Restaurant; located at 11174 Jim Cummings Hwy. in Bradyville, TN. Sign-ups are at 5:30 and the music is featured from 6pm to 8pm. All genres of music are welcome. This is a perfect opportunity for aspiring artists to share their original music in an intimate setting and family friendly atmosphere. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend. United Way Free Tax Prep Program in Full Swing
For qualifying local residents in Rutherford and Cannon counties
Through the United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, individuals and families with an annual household income of less than $64,000 can file their taxes for free until April 18, 2017.
Since the start of this year's VITA program on January 28, 2017, 497 returns have been completed, a 17% increase from this time last year, with an average Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) refund of nearly $3,000 going back into Rutherford and Cannon counties. EITC is a benefit for working individuals with low to moderate income.
