Solid Waste Department
announces new hours
Due to budget cuts imposed by the Cannon County Commission, the Solid Waste Department must reduce some services extended to the public. Starting Monday November 21st, the Cannon County Convenience Center will have new hours of operation.

Saturday 7A-5P
Only household waste will be accepted at the Convenience Center. There will no longer be any building materials accepted or cardboard pickup provided. Please make note of any changes.

UCHRA Announces Commodities Recertification
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency would like to remind those who receive assistance through the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program, known as Commodities; it is time for recertification of their commodities card. With 2017 deliveries right around the corner, it is very important for recipients to recertify their commodity card with their local county offices prior to the first pick-up date.
Recertification date starts January 3rd. First Distribution is February 9th.
If you think you or someone you know qualifies for this program, please contact the UCHRA office in your county for more information.

Flags for Sale
The American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury is selling flags and
accessories. The monies raised from the sale of these flags goes 100% back to our Community, our Youth and our Veterans, in Cannon County. This is an on-going project. We have available an assortment of all sizes and all types of flags - United States Flags, State Flags, Military Service Flags; and all sizes of flag poles.
The United States Flag 3'x 5' nylon is $25 (best price
anywhere). This is our most popular flag. The United States Flag 4"x 6" is .50 each or $5 a dozen for special occasions. The military services/branches flags are $30 each. For that special display. We can get you any State Flag, different size flags and different
size flag poles, (small house flag poles to large business flag poles.) WE ALSO HAVE INDOOR FLAG SETS. FLAGS FOR ALL OCASSIONS. If you need to make a special order, call and we have a catalogue available to make your selections.

Music Night on Thursdays
The Pocahontas Community Center, located near Ivy Bluff, will be having a music night every Thursday at 5 p.m. We welcome all musicians who would like to come and play with our group, beginners or pros. Clearfork United Methodist Church

Clearfork Methodist will begin its monthly dinners on Saturday, January 7. Suppers will be once a month on the first Saturday with hours 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu features catfish or chicken tenders with choice of pinto, white or green beans, hush puppies, cabbage slaw or veggie salad, french fries, homemade desserts and drink. United Way Seeking Collection Sites
for Annual Community Baby Shower Drive
The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and the Rutherford County Health Department are set to collect essential baby items for expectant and new mothers beginning January 10, 2017, through February 3, 2017. The items will be sorted and baby bags will be assembled on February 10, 2017, at the Community Baby Shower Sort-a-Thon, presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
This year, the United Way has a goal of 500 baby bags to be distributed to families in Rutherford and Cannon counties. Focusing on one of the United Way's priority community issues, healthy beginnings, the bags contain essential baby supplies for a healthy start in life.
Items needed to complete the baby bags include: diapers, onesies, baby wipes, bottles, and blankets (new items only for newborn - 6 months old).

1950's & 1960's Featured Wedding Dresses & Car Show
At Oaklands Mansion
MURFREESBORO-- Come by Saturday February 11th for Honk Rattle and Roll Antique Car Display at Oaklands Mansion during the Wedding Dresses Through the Decades Exhibit from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, weather permitting (no rain or snow). There will be a a variety of vehicles from 1950's - 1960's on display that are owned by collectors from across Tennessee. Owners of these vehicles will be on site to discuss their hobby with you. Honk Rattle and Roll is a member of Antique Automotive Club of America that hosts at least 12 activities per year for Antique and Classic Cars enthusiasts. While here, be sure to visit the wedding dresses and continue your walk through the 1950's and 1960's through fashion. The gowns from these decades range from T-length lace to long flowing satin. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an admission of $10 per person.

The Stones River Chapter of Gold Star Wives, Inc. will meet Saturday, Feb. 11th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Alvin C York VA Hospital, 3400 Lebanon Pike, Murfreesboro.
