The Cantrells

When Robert Redford was directing the movie "A River Runs Through It," he chose The Cantrells to perform on camera, with Al on fiddle and Emily on guitar. The Cantrells will bring their original songs, fiddle tunes, bluegrass, western swing, and jazz standards to The Arts Center of Cannon County on Thursday, March 20th.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $13 for students, seniors and groups and may be purchased by calling the box office at 615-563-2787 Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or online at Buy Tickets.

‘The Secret Garden’

The Arts Center of Cannon County presents “The Secret Garden” March 7-22 at the Arts Center of Cannon County, 1424 John Bragg Highway, Woodbury.

Mary Lennox, (Mackenzie Turney) a young orphan, is sent to England to live with her reclusive uncle and sickly cousin. When this neglected child discovers an equally neglected garden, she begins to bring life (and a bit of magic) back to both the garden and her uncle’s manor. This lush Broadway musical won 3 Tony Awards, including “Best Score of a Musical.”

"The Boys Next Door"

This very funny yet very touching play focuses on the lives of four mentally challenged men who live in a communal residence under the watchful eye of a sincere, but increasingly despairing, social worker. Filled with humor, the play is also marked by the compassion and understanding with which it peers into the half-lit world of its handicapped protagonists.
Show times and dates are April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 & 19 at 7:30 PM and April 6 & 13 at 2:00 PM

Stones River Relay 2014,
Race to the Mill
Saturday, April 5
Arts Center Of Cannon County, 1424 John Bragg Highway, Woodbury.
Entrants are welcome to participate in 1 or all 3 legs of the relay.
This is a fun, family event. Some do enter competitively. Both children and adults are encouraged to register. However, no children under 6 years old. Children 6-12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, or designated guardian.
The Relay is a community event focused on getting people outside and onto the River. Beginning on Short Mountain – the highest point in Middle Tennessee – the Relay has three stages. The first leg is a run (mostly downhill). Stage two is a bike ride (again mostly downhill). Stage three is a paddle (downstream) : entrants will switch to canoes or kayaks at the Arts Center of Cannon County. At that location the River is deep and wide enough to accommodate a flotilla of paddlers who will work their way downstream ultimately exiting the River at the newly restored Readyville Mill.
Check-in on Event Day will be 8 to 8:30 a.m. at the Arts Center. Boats will be inventoried there; participants and their bicycles will be shuttled to the Short Mountain School where bikes will be inventoried; runners will then be driven to the top of Short Mountain to the Relay starting point. The Run – first leg of the Relay – will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Farm Day
Friday, May 9
The 12th Annual Farm Day hosted by the Cannon County Farm Bureau and University of Tennessee Extension is scheduled for Friday, May 9 at the Cannon County Fairgrounds. Farm day is a fun filled, exciting opportunity for 4th graders throughout the County. This hands-on event will give them a feel of life on the farm. 4-H'ers will see and learn about exciting things such as: Animals, Animals, Animals!!!, Creek Creatures, Forestry, Planting Plowing and Harvesting, Farm Equipment, Barnyard Olympics, Soils and much more.
