Tenpennys Lead Three Law Enforcement Agencies On High-Speed Chase

Two Woodbury men led officers from the Woodbury Police Dept, the Cannon County Sheriff's Dept. and the Rutherford Co. Sheriff's Dept. on a high speed chase before being apprehended.

On Dec. 11 at approximately 10:37 p.m., deputies were called to Old Murfreesboro Rd. to investigate a report of someone shooting at a vehicle. The victim described the vehicle containing the shooter as a white four-door Cadillac.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., Woodbury Police Sgt. John House initiated a vehicle pursuit with a white Cadillac on South McCrary St. A few minutes later Sgt. House terminated the pursuit on Highway 53S because of bad weather.

A short time later, Cannon Co. Sheriff's Detective Davis was stationary on Bradyville Rd. when he noticed a vehicle traveling north on Bradyville Rd. at a high rate of speed and in the wrong lane. As the vehicle approached Det. Davis' location he noticed it was similar to the one described in the earlier shooting/pursuit.

Det. Davis attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. Det. Davis notified Cannon County Dispatch that we was behind the vehicle. The driver ran the stop sign at Bradyville Rd. and Hwy. 70. The driver then turned left and headed toward Murfreesboro at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was traveling over 120 mph on John Bragg Hwy. in an attempt to evade police. Det. Davis stayed in contact with dispatch, who advised that the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department had been notified. Det. Davis noticed Rutherford County deputies after he crossed the bridge past Murray-Kittrell Rd., at which time the RCSD picked up the pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle turned right on Floration Rd., heading toward Woodbury Hwy. The driver attempted to turn right on Woodbury Hwy. off Floration Rd. when he ran into a ditch.

There were two subjects in the vehicle, identified as Marcus and Jeremy Tenpenny of 800 South McCrary St., Woodbury. The Tennessee Highway Patrol worked the vehicle crash. The subjects were transported to Stones River Hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries. They were both then transported to the Cannon County Jail.

Sgt. House charged Jeremy Tenpenny for evading him earlier. Det. Davis charged Marcus Tenpenny with reckless endangerment. Bond for Marcus Tenpenny was set at $6,000. Initial court date is Feb. 1.
