'Talker' Larimer Is Historical Society Speaker
The Cannon County Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Adams Memorial Library, in the basement meeting room.

Hal Larimer will be the quest speaker or "talker" as he prefers to put it. These is probably not a person in the Cannon County area who does not know Hal.

J.H. "Hal" Larimer came to Woodbury and Cannon County in 1940 from Alabama with his "Base Fiddle." That's a story within itself! He like the Woodbury area and stayed.

After marriage, he entered the grocery business. He then began building houses. From there he entered the funeral home business in the mid 1940's.

The story continues ... farm, cattleman, developer of Riverside Memorial Gardens, owner/partner of radio station WBFJ (later becoming WBRY), and the list goes on.

All of this and more are good stories that only Hal can tell, and he will on Nov. 9. He will share memories and reflections of Cannon County and its people.

Sandwiches and other treats we be served beginning at 6:30. The program will begin at 7.
