SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES NEW SEASON: Symphony America!

MURFEESBORO - Maestro Jeffrey A. Reed and the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra proudly announce the 2009-2010 concert season, “Symphony America!” “Symphony America!” is a musical journey through the many aspects of our culture and our home. Three concerts make up this series – “Made in America”, “A Reel Christmas”, and “Mancini Magic”.

“This season we pay tribute to our great nation,” says Reed. “Many people believe that the only quality orchestral music was written and performed a couple hundred years ago in Italy, Germany or France. In fact, music appreciation and composition has been part of our culture since its inception.

“With ‘Symphony America!’, we hope that we will continue to introduce Middle Tennesseans to music they already know!”

2009 marks the third season Reed has held the baton of the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra. Reed’s goal is to change the stereotype of professional orchestra music by performing selections that engage audiences and inspire them to come back for more.

“Reed has had a profound influence on this orchestra and this community,” says Birdie Ann Donnell, MSO board president. “His music selections are uplifting and exciting. You never know what he will bring to the table, and that is something we need in this community.”

The 2009-2010 concert season begins September 28 at First United Methodist Church on Thompson Lane. Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for students. Subscriptions are also on sale for $100, and can be purchased at MSOTix.com.
