Woodbury Police arrested a 13-year-old juvenile Thursday evening following an attempted robbery at Leland's Furniture and Home Decor shop on the Square.

Rick Smotherman, Leland's owner, was wounded when a shot was fired by the juvenile. Smotherman was transported to Stones River Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was discovered in a City Park and was taken into custody by Woodbury Police.

I am pretty sure it is Rick Smotherman not Rick Ferrell.

Disappointed in the coverage of this story by the Courier. Something like this that happens right on our own square is covered so poorly. TV News 4 offers far more data at:

I agree poor coverage about this as well as dump truck accident. Recently, I have found the coverage not what it has been in the past. There was nothing about which night Halloween was going to be observed or at least I couldn't find it. Deaths are not posted timely like they had been.

Keep in mind folks that there are certain things not reportable when it concerns juveniles. They are protected very stringently to ensure anonominity.

Everything written above pretty much sums up the entire event as reported on Channel 4 except Rick is not the one telling it.

The learning curve is short in today's digital world. We love our Cannon Courier and hope to see it survive the changes and challenges ahead. News is only news when it is timely and thorough.

How can our two local news services get the name wrong for one of Woodbury's business owners?
