Garrett McReynolds has steadily improved his game in each of the previous two seasons.
Looks like he’s taking it to a new level in 2013-14.

McReynolds, a junior forward, poured in 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, pulled eight rebounds and blocked two shots to help lead the Lions to a 61-41 win against Coffee County at Harris Gymnasium (Nov. 21).

Cory Henley added 15 points and four assists as Cannon County improved to 5-0.

The Lions will play host to Warren County Tuesday.

McReynolds and Henley were the only Lions in double figures; however, Cannon County sported a well-balanced attack.

Tanner Larson finished with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting. He also had four rebounds and four steals.Jacob Nave connected on three of his four attempts for six points. Eleven players scored for Cannon County.

“We were able to get good looks and it shows when two of your starting forwards (Larson and McReynolds) combine to go 11-of-14 from the field,” Cannon County Head Coach Matt Rigsby said. “We put forth a solid defensive effort.”
The Lions nursed a slim 14-9 lead after the first quarter but stretched it to 29-18 by halftime.

Cannon County broke the game open in the third quarter when it exploded for 20 points and pushed the lead to 49-27.
The Lions shot 60 percent (21-of-35) from inside the 3-point line. They were 4-of-11 (36 percent) beyond the arc. They set the tone with a perfect shooting effort from the field in the first quarter.

Coffee County was limited to just 17 field goals for the game. The Red Raiders shot 35 percent against the smothering Cannon County defense.
