Sterling Parton

Sterling Parton, age 92, of Murfreesboro went to be with the Lord Friday, August 28, 2009. He was a native of Rutherford County and son of the late Hall and Willie Hill Parton. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Walls Parton whi died in 1979 and a brother, Ross Parton.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, August 31, at Woodfin Funeral Home. Brian Harrell officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Harrell Parton, son, John (Donna) Parton of Woodbury, stepsons Kenny (Jan) Harris, Lynn (Becky) Harris both of Murfreesboro, brothers Frank Parton, Ralph Parton, both of Smithville, sisters, Evelyn Vick of Smyrna, Marie Waggoner of Murfreesboro, grandchildren, Trenton and Chris Harris, Vanessa Garcia, Denise Plunk, Lisa Orozco, Charlie Moore, David Smith, 16 greatchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Mr. Parton was a member of the Harvest View Church and a retired employee of Wilson Creamery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
