CCHS basketball players wait to be introduced during the Cannon County Sports Council Spaghetti Dinner Tuesday.

The first Cannon County Sports Council Spaghetti Dinner honoring basketball teams from the six area grammar schools, as well as Cannon County High School, was a major success at CCHS Tuesday night.

More than an estimated 350 persons attended the event. Dinner was served in the CCHS Cafeteria and then players from all 14 area teams were introduced in the Robert A. Harris Gymnasium.

“This event was a huge success, especially considering it was the first one we have done,” Sports Council President Bill Parsley said. “We are excited about the grammar schools, which have already started, and the expectations are high for both high school teams. You can tell by the turnout that people are excited and support the youth of our community. Events such as this just show what can happen when we all pull together.”
