Baseball, softball hold ‘Senior Night’

Cannon County’s baseball and softball teams will conduct “Senior Day” activities for their senior members Tuesday (April 30).
The softball team will recognize its three seniors prior to its regular-season finale against Livingston Academy. Senior Day recognition will begin at 4:15 p.m. at the CCHS softball field.
Lionette seniors include Brianna Nichols, Taylor Nelms and Tessa Resco.
The Cannon County baseball team will recognize its seniors following its regular season finale against Upperman Tuesday. First pitch is 4 p.m. and the senior recognition will start at approximately 5:30 p.m., or following the conclusion of the game.
Cannon County’s baseball seniors include Dalton Bell, Brent Duggin, Brian Duggin and Chase Gunter.

Football lift-a-thon set for May 4
Cannon County’s football team will conduct a lift-a-thon at the CCHS indoor facility May 4 at 9:30 a.m.
The Lions will lift against Upperman and DeKalb County.
Cannon County will begin spring practice under first-year head coach T.J. Daniel May 6. Practices will begin at 4:30 p.m. leading up to the spring game, scheduled for May 18. Time will be set at a later date.
The Lions will also conduct a free mini football camp for area youth prior to the spring game. More details will become available in the near future.

2013 Camp of Champions on horizon
The 2013 Camp of Champions will take place May 28-31 at Cannon County High School’s Gymnasium.
The girls basketball camp, hosted by the Lionettes, is for girls in grades K-through-eight.
The game runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day. Cost is $45.
Campers will focus on shooting, ball handling, passing, rebounding, position work, games and there will be a guest speaker.

Lady Raider camp dates announced
The Middle Tennessee women's basketball program, which recently won a regular season and tournament Sun Belt Championship, has announced dates for its 2013 summer camps to be held on campus throughout the month of June.
The camps get underway early in the month with the Lil' Raider Camp (June 3-5) for girls age five to eighth grade. Towards the end of the month, June 15-16, the Elite Camp will be held for players seventh through 12th grade where player development is the main goal. It is open to any players in the seventh to 12th grade.
Camp counselors for individual camps include Blue Raider coaches and players.
The middle of the month features three Team Camps, and those will be June 5-7, June 16-18 and June 19-21.
