Soccer Lionettes record first win of season

The Cannon County Lionettes enjoyed their first soccer win of the season as they took down Jackson County 3-1 Tuesday night at Fred Schwartz field. It was also their first win in district play. Jasmine Young scored two goals for the Lionettes. Bradi Mason added one.

Coach Russ Hackett said after the game the team is continuing to come together. Skills are improving every week. He is impressed the most with the maturity of the team as they are beginning to anticipate what is going to happen in a game and react accordingly.

The Lionettes then traveled to Carthage Thursday for a tough match against Smith County.

Smith County swept the season series, winning 7-0.

Next up for the Lionettes is a home contest against York on September 18 and a trip to Baxter to meet Upperman Thursday, September 25 both games start at 6:00.
