A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST Monday evening...

* Snow accumulations: 4 to 8 inches south of Interstate 40 with local amounts to one foot. North of Interstate 40... 2 to 4 inches.

* Timing: Through Monday at 6 PM.

* Impacts: hazardous driving conditions. Road closures possible.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow... sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 PM CST this evening... Look for a continuation of numerous snow showers across the mid state through 400 am. The heaviest snowfall is expected to continue to occur across locations along and south of Interstate 40. Snowfall accumulations of around 11 inches have been reported near the Tennessee...Alabama border as of 134 am CST. Hourly snowfall rates across locations along and south of Interstate 40 will generally between one quarter to around one half of an inch an hour. However...in locations across the southern Cumberland Plateau...and near the Tennessee... Alabama border...hourly snowfall accumulations of around one inch an hour will be possible. Area roadways have quickly become snow covered...slippery...and hazardous. Because of these significant snowfall accumulations that have and will continue to occur...motorists are urged to restrict...or avoid...traveling across the mid state if at all possible. Total snowfall accumulations of between one and three inches are expected to occur across locations near the Tennessee...Kentucky border...to north of Interstate 40...with as much as around one foot across locations approaching the Tennessee...Alabama border... by Monday afternoon.
