Lionette senior standout Abbey Sissom has been named a Class AA Miss Basketball Finalist.

MTSU signee Abbey Sissom was named a finalist for the Class AA Miss Basketball award for the third straight year Friday afternoon, as announced by the Tennessee Schools Athletic Association.

Sissom becomes only the second player in Cannon County basketball history to be named a finalist three times. Former Lionette great Julie Powell also was a three-time finalist.

Sissom joins Creek Wood's Rachel Bell and Grainger County's Allison Hodge as Class AA finalists. Sissom is the top scoring player in Class AA basketball, averaging 24.6 points per game. The two-time District 8-AA Player of the Year also is amongst area leaders in steals and assists.

The senior standout has helped lead No. 3 Cannon County to a 28-3 record and champions of District 8-AA.

Cannon County faces either Upperman or Smith County in the District 8-AA Tournament semifinals at White County High School Saturday at 7 p.m.
