Cannon County standout Abbey Sissom was named 2014 Class AA Miss Basketball at the TSSAA Girls State Tournament at MTSU's Murphy Center Saturday night.

Sissom, a MTSU signee, became only the second player in Cannon County history to win Miss Basketball - an honor presented to Tennessee's top prep girls basketball player each year. Former Lionette great Julie Powell was a two-time Miss Basketball recipient (1989, 90).

Sissom was a three-time Miss Basketball Finalist and capped her sensational career as the award winner.

Sissom scored more than 2,600 points in her career and finished second on the career scoring list at Cannon County. She helped lead Cannon County to three state tournaments in her four years and was part of 117 career victories.

The other two finalists were Creek Wood's Rachel Bell, a Vanderbilt signee; and Grainger's Allison Hodge.
