The top spot in the District 8-AA girls basketball race will be on the line when Cannon County travels to Livingston Academy Friday (Jan. 4).

The Lionettes and Lady Wildcats have established themselves as the primary contenders in the early going and both come into the game undefeated in league play. Cannon County is 4-0 and Livingston is 3-0.

“District 8-AA is one of the toughest girls basketball districts in the state,” Cannon County Head Coach Michael Dodgen said. “This is a big game but it is no bigger than any of the other 12 district games we play. Cannon County’s boys also face a pivotal game. The Lions are in the middle of the pack and can solidify their position with a win against the talented Wildcats.

Girls tipoff is 6 p.m.
