Security Cameras Stolen, Then TV

A local woman who had security cameras installed at her residence after being burglarized last year was victimized again recently.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve McMillen responded to an address on Red Hill Rd. on July 1 following a report of a break-in which had already occurred.

Upon arrival he spoke with the complainant on her back porch, who stated she had gone to church with a neighbor around 9:40 a.m. and when she returned at 11, she found that the back door leading into her house from her screened-in porch had been kicked in, causing $300 in damage.

The victim said that her 32-inch HD flat screen television was missing. It was valued at $600. The top was removed from a jewelry box, but nothing was taken.

Deputy McMillen was also advised by the victim that she had two trail cameras installed on her property following a previous break-in last December. One was mounted to a tree on the right side of the driveway, facing the back porch, which was removed during this break-in. The second camera was mounted inside the screened-in porch. It was also taken. The cameras were valued at $200.

Deputy McMillen took pictures of the door facing which was damaged along with one foot print where the door was kicked in. The print on the door appeared to be that of a boot.

The victim advised Deputy McMillen that a blue pick-up truck had been seen in the neighborhood.

Deputy McMillen spoke with neighbors who stated they were at home during the time of the break-in, but did not see anyone at the victim’s residence.

A copy of the incident report was faxed to the Cannon County 911 Center to be entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
