To say Rhythm Kitchen is excited about their upcoming show at the Arts Center of Cannon County on Sep. 6 is an understatement.
They are ready and willing and plan on bringing a few tricks to the party.
The group is composed of several area musicians who may perform with other projects but come together with Rhythm Kitchen in a blues, Americana fusion that moves as steady as a knife sliding through warm butter.
Meeting at a blues jam in Murfreesboro several years ago, members Joey Fletcher, Jake Winebrenner, Heather Moulder and Skylar Gregg have been performing locally at The ‘Boro lately and are looking for their upcoming show to be one of the pillars of their fall season.
“This is our first show in a month or two. We’ve been playing The ‘Boro and we’re trying to pull together for the fall,” Winebrenner said.
For Moulder, her roots run deep in Cannon County and hometown shows are always moments that she takes to heart.
“I’ve got to see a lot of great performance there. I think it’s special because you know your friends and family will be there. It’s people you grew up with,” Moulder said.
“It’s a different kind of pressure,” she indicated about playing in front of the hometown crowd.
The group plans on a revved up night of music with two full sets and will have Woodbury resident John Duffer open up the night.
“We are hoping to blow this show out for a reason. I look at this as an all-star band for the area. We’ve tried several studio recordings and we are recording this show and hoping to put it out as a live record,” Winebrenner added.
While the group can’t detail too much, they plan on doing a standard first set then cranking it up with a second set that will feature a horn section and special guests.
“We just go for it. We’re kind of an off the cuff type of group. We just try to make something happen,” Winebrenner said about any expectations for the evening.
On this night, they will also premiere new merchandise items such as shirts and stickers, designed by none other than member and designer Heather Moulder. They also plan on trying to give everyone a poster and a few live tracks down the line to enjoy.
