Rev. William Doyle Sadler, 79, of Murfreesboro passed from this life to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, June 15, 2014. He was born August 11, 1934 and raised on the family farm in Cannon County to the late Taft and Marie Simmons Sadler. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Sissom Sadler and four children, Ted (Marina) Sadler, Brenda (Dr. James) Spurlock, Stephen (Catherine) Sadler and Pamela Sadler Strickland all of Murfressboro; Also survived by nine grandchildren, Lori (Kevin) Carver, Lyndsey Grisham, Dr. Holly (Jared) Blankenship, Ashley (Alex) Neusse, Marc Finney, Hope Strickland, Caleb Strickland, Reed Sadler and Grant Sadler and 7 great-grandchildren. Brother Sadler has three surviving siblings, James & John Sadler both of Woodbury and Fay Huddleston of Lebanon.
As an ordained minister of the Free Methodist Church of North America, Bro. Sadler served 12 years as the pastor of the First Free Methodist Church of Smyrna. He left there to found the West Main Mission in Murfreesboro where he served until retirement. He continued after his retirement from pastoral ministry as an evangelist in the Southeastern United States. He was also active in the Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity. Doyle was a 1954 graduate of Cannon Co. High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Master of Theology from Pacific Western University. During retirement, he pursued his hobbies of woodworking, fishing and gardening where he received his Master Gardener Certificate through the UT Agricultural Extension Dept.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 pm until 9 pm at Woodbury Funeral Home 504 W. Main St., Woodbury, TN. and Wednesday at First Free Methodist Church, 1819 Bradyville Pike Murfreesboro, Tn. 37130 from 11 am until 2 pm with funeral services immediately following. Bro. Charlie Heath and Bro. Glen Pots will officiate. Interment will follow in the Gilley Hill Cemetery.
