Red Apple Day Celebration In Final Planning Stages



The Auburntown City Council met Tuesday, July 5, 2011 for their regular monthly meeting. The elected officials who were present were Mayor, Roger Turney and Councilpersons: Tina Fletcher, Rita Davis and Winfred Gaither.

The previous month’s minutes was presented by the City Recorder for approval.  The minutes were approved without dissent.

The financial report was passed out for review. Following a short review the report was approved as presented. The balance of funds to close out the Fiscal Year, June 30, 2011 was $47,556.82.

Dale Peterson, accompanied by his son Christopher, was recognized to address the council.  Dale passed out a “Wrap Up” sheet of Cannon Communities 4th of July Celebration on July 1, 2011.  He then spoke of the superb fireworks display, food collected, money raised by the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, number of people who attended, governmental donations, business and personal donations and the food and drinks distributed free.

The Wrap Up sheet showed all monies and like kind received with an amount of seed money for next year’s celebration.  The Council thought it was a worthwhile endeavor and congratulated Dale for his tireless efforts in coordinating with others to bring it to pass.

Red Apple Day Celebration was discussed at length.  It seems that all items of necessity have been or are in the progress of being taken care of  — red apples have been ordered, 22 vendors have been schedule, trophies have been ordered for winners, a “Bouncy Bouncy” play room for children has been decided upon and an underground electric hookup will be added for extra vendors this years.  Music for both nights has been scheduled

The meeting began at 6:00 PM and ended at 6:45 PM
