Ray Thomas Murphy of Dowelltown and a native of Woodbury, TN. passed away Friday afternoon, May 1, 2015 at NHC Smithville. He was 70. Ray had a passion for building houses and worked construction for most of his adulthood. He was born December 7, 1944 to his late parents, Ed & Liz Murphy and Martha Mai Murphy; 2 sons, Ray Jr. & Bryan Murphy; Sisters, Lela Finley, Ines Davenport, Allie Allan and Ruth Fletcher; brothers, Joe Murphy, Clifton Murphy and Howard Murphy.He

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary H. Baker Murphy of Dowelltown; Daughter: Cindy Murphy of Dowelltown; Grandchildren: Jon (Jamie) Murphy of Joelton, Nathanyel (Natasha) Pedigo of Smithville and Trenton (Kim) Pedigo of Smithville; Sisters: Magaline Davenport, Betty (Dooluy) Green and Arlene (Larry) Sanders; Brother: Roy Murphy; 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services will be 1 pm Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Timothy Baker officiating. Internment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery. Pallbearers: David Dodd, David Gaither, Joey Howell, Jon Murphy, Nathanyel Pedigo, Trenton Pedigo.

Visitation with the family will be from 2 - 8 pm Sunday, 5/3/15; 1 - 8 pm Monday, 5/4/15; 10 am until 1 pm Tuesday, 5/5/15.
