Rain, rain, go away…
And it finally did as Good Ole Days turned sunny (mostly) on Saturday.
It was a day and night long event complete with dance, music, food and festivity.
"Thanks to all the Good Ole Days committee and staff for all your hard work the past five months working on this year's festival. Don't have all the numbers yet but looks like a record year for our largest fundraiser to serve Cannon county seniors," said Connie Rigsby, Good Ole Days director.
Working from stages on Main Street and Water Street, music ranged from the First Baptist Children's Choir to The Jenny Mills Band to rock bands like The Acorn People and the Former Gentiles.
Did we mention dance? The Cannon Arts Dance Studio performed elegantly while the Southern County Cloggers kicked up a storm.
And food? There was everything from pinto beans and cornbread to barbeque and even red velvet cake. The food truck from Julia's Bakery in Murfreesboro was a particular treat.
A highlight was all of the beauty contests ranging in a scale from senior citizen codgers to the beautiful Miss Good Ole Days contestants.
And the rain, which hit again just as the first Miss Good Ole Days contestant stepped on the stage.
Competing in the contest were Kimberly Carlton, Rebekah Faulkner, Cydney McPeak, Emily Pemberton, Tessa Resko, Elizabeth Rhea, Mary Talbott, Kelsie Willis, Brittany McNeese, Sloane Gragg and Mackensie Adams.
"Thanks to all our volunteers, runners, entertainers, sound crew, pageant contestants, outhouse entries, parade vehicles, sponsors, judges, accountants, announcers, board members, Mike Gannon and courthouse employees, Darryl Fisher and crew, vendors, businesses on the square, dog show entries, and mother nature for no storms in your support of the 2013 Good Ole Day," Rigsby said.
