Purple Pride Caravan hitting Smithville next on Sept. 1

COOKEVILLE – The Purple Pride Caravan has hit the road throughout the region, taking Tennessee Tech football to fans in nine different communities from Lebanon to Livingston, from McMinnville to Monterey.

The Caravan will be in Smithville on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Save-A-Lot store from 5 until 6:30 p.m.

The Purple Pride Caravan is making stops across the region during July, August and the first week of September, giving football fans in those areas a chance to meet Golden Eagle head coach Watson Brown, pick up schedule cards and posters, free tickets to the first home game and register to win prizes.

Co-sponsored by Magic 98.5, Save-A-Lot food stores, Pepsi and the Tennessee Tech Athletics Department, the Purple Pride Caravan will hold a tailgate event in each town to promote the upcoming football season with free hot dogs and Pepsi products in a tailgate atmosphere.

The Purple Pride Caravan wraps up on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Cookeville, two days before the season opener in Tucker Stadium against Pikeville College.

The first 50 fans at each caravan stop will receive a free pair of tickets to the game against Pikeville. Fans can pick up the new TTU football posters, schedule cards and register to win an autographed TTU helmet signed by Head coach Watson Brown to be given away at each stop along the route along with prizes from Magic 98.5.

Brown will be in attendance along with TTU mascot, Awesome Eagle and members of the dance team and cheer squads for a true tailgate atmosphere.

Following the visit to Smithville, the final stop is planned for the Cookeville Sav-A-Lot store on Sept. 8.
